A Little Snow, a Lot of Style: Mid-Century & Hollywood Regency Finds This Weekend

Winter estate sales aren’t exactly common around here, but then again, neither are homes like this one. We’ve never been the type to let snow stop us from uncovering the good stuff, and this upcoming sale is proof that some of the best finds are hiding quietly, waiting for the right moment (and the right boots).
This house is very much a time capsule. Not polished. Not staged. Just lived in, and filled with pieces that span decades, styles, and moods. And tucked throughout are some seriously fun Mid-Century Modern and Hollywood Regency moments that made us stop mid-setup and say, okay… now this is interesting.
Let’s talk about a few of them.
Mid-Century Moments Worth a Second Look
There’s something about Mid-Century Modern pieces that still feels fresh, even decades later. Clean lines, good bones, and that unmistakable confidence that doesn’t try too hard.
This sale features a classic MCM console stereo, the kind that instantly makes you think of vinyl nights and glowing dials. The radio lights up and works beautifully (the record player may need a little love), and paired with the collection of vinyl records and a proper record holder, it’s easy to imagine this setup coming back to life in the right space! You’ll also find an MCM dining room china hutch that feels both functional and sculptural.
Hollywood Regency: Drama, But Make It Good
If Mid-Century is all about restraint, Hollywood Regency is its glamorous cousin who isn’t afraid of a little flair.
We’re especially smitten with the Hollywood Regency lamps and shadowbox, bold, decorative, and unapologetically stylish. And then there’s the sofa. The tufted Hollywood Regency sofa is, without question, a project piece. It needs reupholstery. It’s not pretending otherwise. But wow...the shape, the scale, the presence. This is the kind of sofa that absolutely deserves a second act, and we can already picture it stealing the show in the right hands.
The Details That Make a House a Home
Beyond the furniture, this sale is full of the kinds of details that make estate sales so rewarding. A swung glass vase. A Murano Venetian blue decanter and glass set that catches the light just right. A 1930s dresser, a hope chest, a movie camera, books, hats, purses, a mink stole, and yes, plenty of tchotchkes with stories we’ll never fully know.
There are also practical finds mixed in (including a new washing machine), which is part of what makes this sale feel so real. It’s not curated. It’s honest. And those are often the best ones.
A Winter Sale, Done Our Way
This isn’t a huge sale. It’s not a showroom. It’s a smaller, wintertime estate sale with layers, surprises, and pieces that reward curiosity. If you love Mid-Century Modern, appreciate a little Hollywood Regency drama, or just enjoy the thrill of discovering something unexpected, we think you’ll enjoy this one.
Alexa tells us the weather should cooperate. We’re choosing to trust her. Bundle up, take your time, and come see what’s been waiting here all along.
